Expert opinion for obtaining the BAG quality seal "besonders entwicklungsfördernd" for the "ROBHOC" children's stool

Product description and product idea:
The basic design of the "ROBHOC" by Jörg Bünger, owner of aspekt schreinerarbeiten e. K., is a stackable children's stool that grows with the child. Thanks to functional details and appropriate accessories, it can also be used as a versatile piece of play and exercise equipment. The stool is made of natural birch plywood. Between two sides, two seats and a frame are attached with Allen screws. The seat height can be adjusted to 27, 31 and 35 cm by means of the perforation, and when stacked on top of each other it can also be used as a seat for adults. Stacked, the "ROBHOC" can be stored in a space-saving way and put aside within a short time.
The product idea "ROBHOC" aims at versatility, i.e. the stools can be used not only as seating furniture but multifunctionally and can be used as play and movement equipment with a few additional materials. The stools with their special design and perforation can be put together in a variety of ways to form stairs and towers, enable children to build and construct imaginative combinations on their own and thus create diverse and challenging opportunities for movement such as balancing, climbing up, overcoming and jumping down. Connected by longitudinal beams, the stools can become balancing routes of different heights. A slope can be used as a slide. The "ROBHOC" can also be used to create a marble run or a rubber twist. It is possible to clamp pictures, cardboard walls or similar things between the two seats.

Assessment of intention, play value and requirement profile:
Due to its flexible use as a play and movement element, the "ROBHOC" is particularly suitable for practising basic motor activities such as climbing, climbing, jumping, sliding and balancing. Due to the various possible combinations of stools and additional elements, the height and width of towers, stairs and balancing levels, for example, can be freely chosen by the children or designed by them with the support of a teacher. This creates a variety of movement opportunities with differentiated motor requirements and degrees of difficulty. Especially children of crèche and day-care centre age find many psychomotor challenges here, in which they can gain differentiated experiences with their different abilities. The varied use also encourages their imagination and creativity. The balancing stretch, which can be varied in height and, if necessary, can also be enriched with a slope, is particularly demanding on the children's willingness to take risks. Exciting movement landscapes can be created in this way, which can be experienced by many children at the same time. In doing so, they also practise their social skills such as mutual consideration during the movements or the necessary agreement when setting up the elements. By observing each other, the children learn from each other or are even encouraged to take on new motor challenges. They experience their self-efficacy to a special degree, experience themselves in their personal possibilities and limits. The "ROBHOC" elements are put together according to individual willingness to take risks and interest in playing. Thus, the balancing paths can be mastered by crawling or walking, sliding on the incline or driving toy cars. Jumping from one or three stools is possible, or the "ROBHOC" can be turned into a puppet theatre or a shop counter. Kognitive Fähigkeiten, wie das Planen und Organisieren der Baukonstruktionen, sowie gruppendynamische Handlungen zu antizipieren, abzusprechen und umzusetzen, werden im Umgang mit dem "ROBHOC" geschult. Due to their special construction and the resulting combination possibilities, the stools not only invite children to a variety of movement options, but also allow for many imaginative play solutions. Movement patterns and play options are not predetermined, but can be designed and varied by the children themselves.

Assessment of design, handling, safety:
Due to its low weight, the "ROBHOC" can be carried, lifted and stacked by children. Even the smallest children can push, pull and turn it. Nevertheless, it is stable and robust. The connections using Allen screws also guarantee the product's longevity, especially in comparison with glued stools. The edges are rounded and meet all the necessary safety regulations. Stacked stools allow safe climbing up and jumping down. Stability can be further increased by tensioning straps. The "ROBHOC" scores with its natural look. It can be dismantled and flexibly converted. The "ROBHOC" is not only a stool, but it can be used multifunctionally as described above.

Scope:
The "ROBHOC" is suitable for children from the age of 1 as play equipment and seating, and for young people and adults as seating. It can be used at home and in day-care centres in the group room and movement room as a multifunctional product.

Fazit:
The "ROBHOC" by Jörg Bünger fulfils the criteria of the quality seal "besonders entwicklungsfördernd" to a special degree.
